Every Thursday, we will focus on an area of one of the number 1 destination we offer and love to visit. Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL
Believe it or not, our No. 1 clients that contact us are couples. That’s right adults, not so much younger families, which by the way, we love servicing as well. But many adults love staying and enjoying not only the theme parks but the resorts!
Many people ask us, is it really that important to stay on property vs. a hotel closer and outside of the parks? We highly recommend it, the benefits of staying is the value vs. not staying.
One of the main benefits are of the different resorts to choose from. Like a Polynesian Resort; A Wilderness Lodge; Safari Themed; Old South and so many option theme options to choose There are 3 or rather 4 different categories: The Campgrounds (where you can set up tents; campers and RVs of all sizes (FYI, they get full very fast and hard to get a spot; Value which are the most economical; Moderate Resorts which are in the middle; and the Luxury ones. Yes, you are paying for what you want. Some people look at a price and go OMG! Really! Calm down, it’s okay.
Today, I am going to focus on our Favorite resort Port Orleans Riverside and each week we will highlight another one. There are over 25 soon to be 27 resorts to stay at. The newest one opening and now available for booking for stays starting December 2019 Disney Rivera Resort and the not named themed Star Wars Resort coming soon. Predicted for 50th Anniversary in 2021, and more information and updates for Epcot’s 40th Anniversary, but don’t hold me to that.
Description of Resorts First of all each resort has it’s own Disney Magic to it. Theme totally different then the others, and FYI, you can visit all of them if you wish while staying, you are not limited to only seeing what is at your resort, you can eat, stroll, take pictures, just relax at a bar or have a cup of coffee and more. When we stay, we always finding something new to do and enjoy.
There are 2 Port Orleans Resorts to choose from Riverside and the French Quarter, a designed like you were in New Orleans. Riverside has magnolia trees and the hotel rooms on the outside are small buildings replicating beautiful southern plantation homes, with nice walk ways and fountains. Reason I love staying here, I am a big “Gone with the Wind” fan and it looks like staying at Tara. We stayed in a Royal View Room, just a little bit of information if you have boys, don’t put them in these rooms, but girls are going to love them, even hubby liked the decor, wasn’t glitzy or sparkly just very royal looking,
These 2 resorts fall under the Moderate Level. Not to far from the theme parks and are part of the Disney Springs Resorts. There are many ways to get to the theme parks and other areas of Walt Disney World which are included in your packages when you stay. Which comes to my first benefit of staying on Property.
Moderate Resorts (click for our Disney Website)- There are 5 Disney Moderate Resorts: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Coronado Springs Resort, The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.
Transportation: Included in your Walt Disney World Vacation Package is the Transportation. You get the Disney Magic Express Shuttle service, when you fly into Orlando International Airport (MCO), plus all the bus, monorail, boat and soon to be sky gondolas from your resorts directly to all the areas not just the 4 theme parks (Magic Kingdom; Epcot; Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios). You also have the 2 Water Parks; Golf Courses; Disney Springs; ESPN Wide World of Sports. Wow that alone is worth the price. We highly recommend that you do not park at the resorts, they have gone up in parking pricing; yes the resorts charge for parking; Disney Springs does not! Hint coming on that later. Below is a link to our youtube video of our Anniversary Trip in 2016, when we stayed at Port Orleans, In the video we also walked the beautiful path over to the French Quarter. The week of Thanksgiving can be less crowded, if you want to go for the holidays. All the resorts and parks are all decked out in their best. It is magical there.
Food options – At the moderate resorts they have a sit down restaurant and food courts. You can either pay as you go, or purchase a dining package to make it less of a hassle and more all-inclusive for you. Either way, many of the restaurants you must reserve a table 180 days prior to your visit, or you may not get what you want. As a service to you, we will make the reservations for you. At the Riverside they have the Boatwright’s Dining Hall photos of our Thanksgiving Dinner in the video. Great Creole Restaurant; The River Roast Lounge (where you will find Bob Jackson Wednesday through Saturday, Highly recommend you go, Get a seat early at 7 PM, at the bottom of page I have his show. During the holidays he sings Holiday tunes; during the rest of the year sings standards and Disney Tunes to sing and dance to. Great for the whole family. When we have friends in town, we bring him to see Bob for a great time. Also the food court is wonderful, has breakfast lunch and dinner.
Entertainment: At all the Disney Resorts. They have wonderful entertainment at night. Movies Under The Stars, this shows a Disney Classic Movie; at Riverside they have campfire sing-along with chip N Dale . Plus, they also have horse-drawn buggies, for a price will take you around the resort. I did this for our Anniversary and we loved it.
What is not included in your Walt Disney World stay and can be added to make a full all inclusive as you want and need:
Theme Park Tickets – All depending on number of days, events and more. This is why you need someone who knows about all things Disney to direct you in you best needs and value and not the most expensive options.
Dining packages: Again like the tickets, there are many to choose from or pay as you go.
Air Transportation or any transportation to Walt Disney World.
Travel Protection, which we can offer as well.
We hope you enjoy this, would love you comments and for you to follow us here and on our youtube and Facebook Channel.
